This time, State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has ordered the immediate closure of illegal mobile phones in the country. He has directed the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to take effective steps to prevent the illegal entry of mobile phone sets into the country.He gave this instruction during an exchange of views with BTRC officials on Tuesday morning, January 23. He ordered the closure of all illegal mobile phones through the National Equipment Identification Registrar (NEIR).
BTRC Chairman Engineer Md. Mohiuddin Ahmed said that this initiative will be implemented soon to stop illegal mobile phones in the country. He also proposed setting up BRTC offices in every divisional city to ensure the quality of service.
